This Privacy Policy explains how Proxenitra collects, uses and protects personal information when you create a profile and use our private matchmaking service in Cyprus.
Proxenitra is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. We process personal information in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Cyprus data protection law.
What information we collect
We collect the information you give us and a small amount generated by using the service:
- Account details: name, email address and password credentials handled by our authentication provider.
- Profile details: date of birth, gender, city of residency, nationality, languages, profession, education, interests, sports, lifestyle answers, personality and about-me text.
- Matchmaking preferences: age range, preferred locations, relationship intentions, family goals and other criteria you set.
- Photographs you upload to your profile.
- Messages you send to the matchmaking team and your responses to introductions.
- Payment records: which service or credit package you requested, the amount, the payment method and a reference. Card details are handled by the payment provider, never by us.
- Consent records: which version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted, and when.
- Technical information: basic logs needed to keep the service secure and working.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
- To provide the matchmaking service — creating your profile, reviewing it and hand-picking introductions. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To verify profiles and keep the community safe. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a trustworthy service.
- To process purchases of Introduction Credits or Curated Matchmaking and keep accounting records. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
- To send service emails such as profile status, introductions, payment confirmations and security notices. Legal basis: contract.
- To send optional marketing emails. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To handle any optional sensitive information you choose to share, where explicit consent is required. Legal basis: your explicit consent.
Who can see your information
There is no public member directory and your profile is never open for strangers to browse.
- The Proxenitra matchmaking team can view profiles in order to make introductions.
- When an introduction is proposed, limited relevant details are shared with the other member so they can decide whether to proceed.
- Service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, database, email delivery and payment providers) process data on our instructions.
- Authorities or advisers where we are legally required to disclose information, or to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep information
We keep your profile for as long as your account is active. After an account is closed, personal information is deleted or anonymised, except where we must keep limited records for accounting, fraud prevention, safety investigations or legal claims.
Consent records are retained for as long as necessary to demonstrate which version of our Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Request deletion of your account and personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a copy of information you provided in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus.

Security
Profiles and photographs are stored on access-controlled infrastructure, photographs are served through time-limited private links, and access is restricted to the matchmaking team. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
Age requirement
Proxenitra is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and any such profile will be removed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service develops. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give appropriate notice before it takes effect.
